ZD Wines
Last weekend, I finally scratched one off my list! In Rutherford, just off the Silverado Trail sits ZD Winery. They are family-owned and celebrating 50 years in the wine business! Their dedication to producing world-class wines while maintaining organic practices since 1999 really show through when tasting in the beautifully remodeled tasting room.
Now to the bucket list ~ I finally tasted their pinnacle wine 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘂𝘀! For those who don’t know, Abacus is a multi-vintage blend of ZD’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon that contains a little bit of every vintage dating back to 1992. They produce this blend using a Solera style method which brings forward a gorgeous harmony of primary notes from the newest vintages and tertiary notes from the aged Solera. I was getting black cherry, plum, cranberry, vanilla, coconut, baking spices, prunes and baked figs notes just to name a few - a truly balanced wine. What a pleasure to taste!! 🍷
If you are planning a visit to Napa Valley, ZD has one of the best hospitality teams and their vineyard view terrace is an absolute pleasure to experience their delicious line-up!
