St. Francis Wine

Sipping St. Francis Wines in support of Canine Companions this September!

September is National Service Dog Month!

Did you know that you can make a difference this month by sipping some St. Francis wine? For every bottle you enjoy, $1 goes to Canine Companions, helping place expertly trained service dogs with people with disabilities at absolutely no cost to them!

Since 1971, St. Francis has been producing delicious wines, starting with just 22 acres of Chardonnay and 60 acres of Merlot planted by Joe Martin in Sonoma Valley. Today, winemakers Katie Madigan and Chris Louton work alongside viticulturist Jake Terrell to produce wines from over 400 acres of certified sustainable estate vineyards while remaining a family-owned business. Their commitment to sustainable practices, which includes many factors from farming practices to equity for their employees to giving back to the community, all help preserve the natural beauty of Sonoma and ultimately translate into the enjoyment of the wines.

Today, I’m savoring their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and “Old Vines” Zinfandel.  The Chardonnay is barrel-fermented and offers up balanced brightness with creamy notes of butterscotch, golden apple, and ripe pear. The Pinot Noir is aged in French Oak with lively notes of cherries and plum alongside sweet baking spices. Last but certainly not least, the Zinfandel comes from 60 to 110-year-old vines, many of which are dry-farmed and head-pruned. These old vines produce low yields but highly concentrated flavors. I was hooked with the black and blueberry notes, balanced by cigar and peppery spice. These wines are all great examples of the diversity of Sonoma County, allowing each bottle to spotlight the region beautifully while delivering luscious textures and fruit-driven flavors. It’s a win-win in my book!

I’m incredibly humbled and honored to partner with St. Francis again this year for this vital cause.

Your support means the world to me and so many others…humans and dogs.  So, let's raise a glass to National Service Dog Month and support this wonderful cause with a sip!
